Who I see
Most of the people I work with are quietly carrying something heavier than they let on.
Before I became a therapist I spent more than a decade in K-12 classrooms in northern Wisconsin. Most of what I do now grew out of that work: showing up steadily, listening for what isn't being said, and treating the person in front of me like the expert on their own life. I see students, working adults, parents, and the in-between people figuring out the next chapter.
How I work
Person-centered. Paced by you.
You don't have to know what to talk about. You don't have to come in with a tidy summary of "the problem." I'll meet you where you are, and we'll work outward from there. Here's what that actually looks like.
A free 15-minute consult before anything else
Before you book a session, we have a short conversation - over text, on the phone, or by email, whichever you prefer. You tell me a little about what's bringing you here. I tell you how I work. If it sounds like a fit, we schedule a first session. If it doesn't, I can usually point you to someone who is.
The first session is logistics and intake
I do the diagnostic intake assessment interview-style rather than as a paperwork stack, so we leave the session with a shared baseline of what's going on, what you've tried, and where to start. Consent forms and insurance verification happen in the same session.
Weekly or every other week to start
We hold that cadence for four to six sessions, long enough to know whether the work is moving and whether the rhythm fits your life. After that we adjust: weekly, every other week, monthly, or a maintenance cadence are all on the table.
Methods chosen for you, not for me
I'm trained in cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, person-centered, family-systems, solution-focused, and trauma-focused approaches. Which ones I draw from with you depends on you, not on what's currently trending in the field.
Insurance & fees
Direct about cost. Most major insurance accepted.
Therapy should not be a financial puzzle. Sessions are $125 when paying out of pocket. I'm credentialed with most major insurance carriers in Wisconsin, including Medicaid and BadgerCare, so for most people the actual cost is a small copay or nothing at all.

Reaching out is the hardest part. After that, I take it from there.
