Things people ask before reaching out.

If something is not answered here, text, call, or email. I read every message myself.

How do I start?

Text or call (218) 380-9007, or use the contact form. From there you can either request a free 15 minutes consult to see if we are a fit, or book the first session directly. Either path is fine; the consult is offered, not required.

What does it cost?

Out-of-pocket is $125 per 50 minutes session. I am credentialed with most major Wisconsin insurance including BadgerCare, Medicaid, Medicare, Anthem, BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, Security Health, Inclusa, The Alliance, Medica, UMR, GHI, HealthPartners, and Wellpoint Amerigroup. Full detail is on the insurance and fees page.

How long is therapy?

It depends on what you are working on. For anxiety, often four to six weeks before the worst edges soften. For depression, often two to three months. For trauma and self-esteem work, often six months or more. We talk about your timeline at the first session and revisit it.

What ages do you work with?

My practice is built around college-age and adult clients. For children and teens I can suggest where to look.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. I am an LPC, not a psychiatrist or primary care doctor. If medication might be part of your picture, I can help you find a prescriber and we will continue the therapy work alongside.

Is telehealth as good as in person?

For most adult and college-age work, yes. For some kinds of trauma work in-person is better. For Twin Ports clients I offer both and we can mix and match. More on the telehealth page.

Will my parents find out?

For college-age clients on a parent's insurance, an explanation-of-benefits letter may go to the address your insurer has on file. It will list a generic description of the service. The content of sessions is confidential between you and me. We can walk through the details at the first session.

What if I am in crisis?

Please call 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency department. I do not provide between-session crisis support. We can resume regular work as soon as you are stable enough that weekly therapy will land.

What if I am not sure if I need therapy?

The free 15-minute consult is for exactly that. You do not have to decide before we talk whether you are coming.

Do you do EMDR?

No. If you specifically want EMDR I can refer you to clinicians who specialize in it.

Do you do couples therapy?

As part of family work when the partnership is involved. Not as a primary specialty. If you are looking for couples-only counseling I can refer you.

How fast will you reply?

Within one business day. If the form's autoresponder did not arrive, something went wrong; please text or call instead.
